That was then. This is now. Have the movies we loved 25 years ago held up? Do we still love them today? We asked Hacker employees about their favorite movies in 1986 and now.

And the winners are . . .

• A huge 23% of us adored Ferris Bueller's Day Off back in 1986
• 11% preferred Top Gun
• 6% liked Back to the Future
• And another 6% liked Aliens best
• 5% laughed along with the ¡Three Amigos!

Dozens of other movies from 25 years ago were mentioned by the rest of the team — showing that we truly are as eclectic as all that.
It was even harder to get a consensus about new movies.

• The current favorite (named by 9%) is Inception.
• Bridesmaids, The King's Speech and True Grit are each named by 5% of the group as the best of the new.
• The modern favorites list is rounded out by Thor, Water for Elephants and the newest Harry Potter.
