This time of year, surrounded by political propaganda and detailed debate, the gender divide is brought to the forefront of my mind. It’s not my fault, I can’t help it – but I’m not sorry.

I think it’s a very interesting to juxtapose the Sisyphean battles women face in the political realm with the staggering statistics that show their climbing influence and control in the global market. And when I say “staggering,” I’m not exaggerating – FastCompany recently reported that women control 65 percent of global spending, and 80 percent of spending in the U.S.

Each day, more and more women are becoming experts on the market, sought-after sources on trends and forecasting, and persons with opinions whose echo is exponential. In today’s world, a single tweet can be worth millions. A brand ambassador has become priceless.

Try as some may to keep women down, this trend is here to stay.
